Baobab Oil

Baobab Oil is derived from the baobab tree (Adansonia digitata), a species endemic to Africa, also known as the boabab tree. It is native to the Sahel region south of the Sahara Desert and arid areas in southern Africa. Referred to as the "Tree of Life" across the African continent, the baobab tree can live for thousands of years, grow up to 25 meters in height, and has a thick, barrel-shaped trunk capable of storing thousands of liters of water to withstand extremely arid climates. Its fruit is an oblong woody capsule that can reach a diameter of 30 centimeters. The kernels of the fruit contain approximately 30% to 40% oil, serving as a traditional source of nutrition and skincare ingredient for local indigenous people. Currently, the baobab tree has been introduced to tropical arid regions such as Australia and India, becoming a distinctive plant that balances ecological conservation and economic value.

Baobab oil is extracted from the kernels of the baobab tree. The extraction process begins with removing the shells of the baobab kernels, followed by low-temperature drying. Subsequently, either cold-pressing or refining technology is used to extract the oil.Cold-pressed baobab oil ranges in color from pale yellow to light amber and has a subtle nutty aroma. It retains abundant vitamins, minerals, and antioxidant components.Refined baobab oil, on the other hand, undergoes decolorization and deodorization processes. As a result, it appears nearly colorless and transparent, has a neutral scent, and exhibits higher stability. These characteristics make it suitable for the production of cosmetics with complex formulations.
