Its seeds, rich in unique bioactive compounds, are now valued for their oil, which is primarily produced in China and South Korea. In accordance with the Food Safety Law of the People's Republic of China and the Administrative Measures for New Resource Foods, China’s Ministry of Health officially approved Acer truncatum Seed Oil as a new resource food via Announcement No. 9 of 2011.
