Sanmark Debuts at the African Avocado Conference, Unlocking the Infinite Potential of "Green Gold"

May 30,2025

From May 27 to 29, 2025, the industry event will bring together leading African avocado-producing countries, processing companies, and global traders. —— The Africa Avocado Conference was successfully held at the Nairobi Expo Centre in Kenya. As a vital platform spanning the entire avocado industry chain—from cultivation and processing to trade—the conference provided a valuable opportunity for stakeholders across all segments of Africa's avocado value chain to network and forge business partnerships.

At the exhibition site, Sanmark booth featured three major product lines that became the focus of attention. Among them, the high-quality avocado oil showcased its strong versatility due to excellent stability, a rich content of monounsaturated fatty acids (Omega-9), and natural nutrients, covering several fields such as high-end cooking oils, health foods, baby food, and skincare products, quickly becoming a point of interest for professional buyers. In terms of business model, Sanmark has gained recognition for its flexible and adaptable approach. It not only provides bulk oil to functional ingredient customers but also launched four packaging forms for the end market: glass bottles, spray bottles, flexible packaging, and PET bottles, achieving a complete chain solution from high-quality crude oil supply to customized small-sized products.

The simultaneously exhibited plant-based protein series, rich in essential amino acids and possessing good natural flavors, demonstrates its potential applications in meal replacement foods, energy bars, and baked beverage products to customers. The microencapsulated oil powder product effectively solves the inconvenience of using liquid oils in specific scenarios, particularly intriguing customers in the baking and solid beverage fields, thanks to its characteristics of cold water solubility, convenient application, and long shelf life. Some customers indicated that this provides new ideas for product upgrades.

Over the past decade, global avocado trade has rapidly expanded with an annual increase of 180,000 tons and a compound growth rate of 12%, nearly six times the growth rate of global fruit trade (2.1%) during the same period. Against this backdrop, Kenya has emerged as a standout player in the global avocado industry due to its unique advantages: 28,800 hectares of planting area concentrated in the south, abundant sunlight, significant temperature differences between day and night, and ample rainfall during wet seasons provide avocados with a rapid maturation advantage, allowing them to seize market opportunities before similar products from Peru and Mexico are available. Some regions even achieve two harvests a year, significantly extending the export cycle; coupled with low labor costs, Kenyan avocados are highly competitive in international pricing. The Kenyan government ensures product quality by strengthening regulation and introducing smart temperature control and blockchain traceability technologies, while actively promoting market expansion through favorable industrial policies – in 2023, Kenya has become China's third-largest source of avocado imports, achieving breakthroughs in the industry through 'fruit diplomacy'. By 2022, its avocado planting area reached 28,800 hectares with an annual output of 458,000 tons, solidifying its position as the largest exporter on the African continent and occupying an important place in the global avocado landscape.

"Originating from the world, serving the world." Relying on this core production area advantage, Sanmark's global production and sales network will achieve a strategic breakthrough in 2025 — the first GMP avocado oil production base in Kenya officially broke ground in the capital city of Nairobi! As a milestone project deeply rooted in Africa's core production area, the new base is situated in the golden production area for avocado raw materials, leveraging local high-quality fresh fruit resources to supply global customers with fresher, more stable, and cost-effective avocado oil products. The base is constructed in strict accordance with international GMP standards, with the first phase covering raw material pretreatment, avocado pressing, and packaging, ensuring quality and food safety from the source. This project is not only a comprehensive hub that integrates capacity release, technology transfer, and industry incubation but also deeply empowers the upgrading of the agricultural industry in East Africa through localized employment cultivation and the introduction of advanced production systems. Additionally, it establishes an agile supply chain network that reaches Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, significantly enhancing the resilience of global market services. This layout signifies that Sanmark is writing a new industry model in the globalization of specialty oils with its "direct supply from production areas, standard output" approach.

Although the Africa Avocado Conference has concluded, Sanmark's development blueprint on the African continent is gradually unfolding. The start of construction at the production base in Kenya is a key step in Sanmark's globalization strategy and marks a new starting point for the company to deepen cooperation in Africa and serve the global nutrition oil industry. In the future, Sanmark will continue to focus on the nutrition oil sector, leveraging the resource advantages and quality assurance of global core production areas to provide more high-quality nutrition oil products to users worldwide and contribute to health and wellness. Let the nutritional essence from nature benefit more corners of the world.
